This workshop introduces massage therapists to the art and practice of hot stone massage, a therapeutic technique that combines traditional massage with the use of heated stones. Participants will learn how to effectively and safely integrate hot stones into their massage sessions to enhance relaxation, improve circulation, and alleviate muscle tension.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe the history, benefits, and uses of hot stone massage.
Identify the appropriate equipment, tools, and safety protocols for performing a hot stone massage.
Demonstrate correct techniques for heating, handling, and applying hot stones in various massage routines.
Integrate hot stones with other massage modalities to create customized therapeutic sessions.
Recognize contraindications and implement safety measures to ensure client safety and comfort.
Effectively communicate the benefits and potential risks of hot stone massage to clients.
In this program, participants will learn how to set up and properly care for their massage stones. They will learn about the benefits and contraindications of hot and cold stone therapy. Participants will learn various techniques, including spinal and chakra layouts, to competently perform a 90 minute Hot Stone Massage.
Instructor
Barb Cantley, RMT graduated from Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies with an Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy in 2008. Since then she has instructed Business Management at the College and also teaches two electives; Hot Stone Massage and Introduction to Aromatherapy. Barb currently runs her own massage practice and has developed a love for HSM within her own clientele
